Internet Usage Policy
Getting people to use the internet safely - and possibly without Facebook either
The internet is one of the crowning achievements of human technical achievement. Not only is it a repository for a million and one cybersecurity tools that cut down the workday significantly, it is also a place for accessing all kinds of information, culture, comedy, tragedy, news, and sociality as well. It provides us an instant portal into different worlds, opening up our horizons and getting us to understand the world around us.
So, of course, people use it for Facebook.
In an organization, the safe use of the internet is paramount as all the above promises come with the caveat of “…and around every corner, someone is trying to steal your information”. A sloppily reused username/password combo can get leaked out onto the internet, a wayward link turns into a phishing attack, or a seemingly innocuous website turns out to be a poisoned watering hole. In short - it is very easy to mess things up very quickly, especially when there is a big, company-shaped target on your back. And that’s why we’ve made a quick policy document to help you get the upper hand in the matter.
This Internet Usage Policy contains 10 sections on how to actually communicate the need for safe internet use of the company’s watch. Each section includes a short blurb and a few bullet points to help you get things started, although you are more than welcome - encouraged, in fact! - to add things in order to make them relevant to your organization. Check it out below!
